Learn how to preserve your foraged harvest with confidence!

This interactive Canning Wild Foods class at Michigan Wildlife Conservancy’s Bengel Wildlife Center is designed for beginner and intermediate foragers who want to turn wild ingredients into shelf-stable foods, and some unique recipes to try!

What you’ll do:

  • Learn the essentials of water bath and pressure canning, and how to do so safely!
  • Watch a live demonstration with a real canner
  • Taste examples of wild food preserves like pickles, jams, and more.

We’ll cover safety, techniques, and creative ways to preserve wild plants from your own foraging adventures.

Whether you’re new to canning or looking to expand your skills, this class offers practical knowledge, wild food inspiration, and a welcoming space to learn.

What to Bring:

  • Notebook and pen for taking notes

  • Appetite and curiosity 

The Wildlife Pub will be open before, during, and after the class for food and beverages. This is an indoor class.
